Welcome to Laris Farm FAQs!

We’re here to make your riding experience enjoyable and stress-free! Check out our FAQs below for everything you need to know.

Booking is a breeze!

Once you've registered -

Head to the ‘Lesson Bookings’ tab on our website. Pick your preferred date and time. Complete the payment, and you’re all set!

If a horse isn’t available, it could be due to scheduling or size. Check back later for updates. If it says you aren't graded you just need to book a private lesson and select assessment as your lesson type.

Lessons are tailored by your instructor on the day, ensuring they match your goals and skill level. If weather, horse health, or other factors intervene, your lesson may shift to stable management. Rest assured, every session is educational and fun!

We’ll do our best to accommodate your horse preferences, but availability and suitability will guide the final decision.

  • Legs: Comfy leggings or joggers (no bulky seams).
  • Feet: Hard-soled shoes with a small heel (no trainers, please).
  • Torso: Shoulder and Torso covering tops; back protectors are a plus!
  • Head: UK-approved helmets (hire available).

Dressing right ensures a safe, comfortable ride!

  • Check in at the office when you arrive.
  • Wait in the designated areas, and only approach horses with an instructor’s guidance. Some horses are privately owned, so please avoid feeding or petting without permission.
  • Leave your child's instructor to do their job, there are different ways to teach and things may have changed since you learned to ride! Helicopter parenting isn't tolerated.

We welcome riders aged 4+ and have an 80kg weight limit to match our horses’ capabilities. For updates on size accommodations, keep an eye on our website and social media.

Group lessons might include flatwork, jumping, hacking with occasional stable management; it's a dynamic mix! On the day, the focus may change based on weather, horse availability, or group needs.

Feel free to snap photos to capture the magic, but only if everyone in the arena agrees. Respecting privacy is essential!

We value your thoughts! Share feedback or concerns at 012768855034  office@beaconequestrian.co.uk—we’re here to listen and improve.

Your safety is our top priority. Our staff is trained in first aid, and we’ll handle any situation with care and efficiency. Riders with medical conditions should consult a doctor before booking.

  • Cancel 24+ hours before your lesson to receive a credit.
  • Late cancellations within 24 hours are charged in full.

All changes can be made via the ‘Lesson Bookings’ tab.

On arrival, please go to the office to check in, you can then wait in reception or the viewing shelter. Please do NOT go and meet the horses without your instructor some of our horses are privately owned and Do bite. Please also bare in mind that some skin infections can be passed from horse to human.

We currently take children from age 5 and up due to insurance limitations. You unfortunately will not be able to book until after their 5th Birthday.

Unfortunately, we only have small horses and ponies at this time, so our weight limit is lower than we would like at this time of 80kg, if you weigh more than this please sign up to our website and subscribe to marketing or follow us on social media as we will do a media release when we increase this.

If you haven’t ridden with us we need to grade you. To grade you we need to assess you, to book an assessment lesson please go to the book a lesson page and scroll down below the banner, choose a date (you will not be able to see anything on today’s date or a Wednesday) then scroll down to private lessons, pick a time slot then ensure under lesson type it says Assessment Lesson.

Unfortunately, this means that the horse/pony that is the right size for your height and weight is already in other lessons and has met their maximum availability for the day. Please check other days or if it’s the only day you can do, keep checking back as we do have cancellations and things change so they might become available.

Although we allow you to book different lesson types your instructor has final say. It is important for both your riding journey and your horses well being we do not do some activities too often or too infrequently. Booking a lesson type is a request and not an expectation.

We try at all times to be as inclusive as possible, however we may request to see a note from your doctor signing you are fit to ride if you are currently or have previously suffered from any illness, injury or disability that may affect your safety on the horse.

Riders must expect that they will fall off at some stage during their riding journey and if you have a pre-existing weakness, condition or injury this substantially increases the risk of catastrophic injury

Riders who suffer from disabilities affecting their: balance, core stability, flexibility, focus or ability follow direction in a one to one environment may find they are not quite ready to join a mainstream riding school just yet, although we do endeavour to be as inclusive as possible safety of both our riders and horses is paramount so please call us and discuss how we can help.

Quest RDA do operate a fantastic riding for the disabled club at Laris farm, so please do get in touch with them if you have any additional needs or concerns as they have the equipment, training and extra support to allow access for all.

Regretfully we do reserve the right to cancel lessons without refund, end lessons early or refuse future bookings for any riders we feel would be unsafe on a horse or risk harm to our horses emotionally or physically.
